Project 365 – January 16, 2010

Girls’ Night Out

Carrabba's

My friend, Laurie, and I celebrated our upcoming birthdays!

As Laurie says, the restaurant got larger, and the menu got smaller. But we still managed to close the place!

Chia Pet

Yes. Yes. I have a Chia Pet.

Sometimes staycationing involves nothing more than staying home and watching the grass grow. :)

Beach Talisman

Beach Talisman Post Card
Yay! I woke up to another sale in my Endless Sunner shop! I love it when that happens.

This sea glass pendant is called “Beach Talisman”. According to the dictionary, a talisman is:

tal*is*man: a stone, ring, or other object whose presence exercises a remarkable or powerful influence on human feelings or actions

A good message for the New Year!

Spot

Spot
I became aware of something today called Project 365. Basically, it involves taking a picture a day. I think it’s a great idea! A way to chronicle things in my life, big or small. A way to look back, and ahead, at what’s important.

Plus, it’s a good way to (hopefully!) make me a better photographer, which will benefit this site, as well as my Endless Sunner site!

I’m a week late in starting Project 365, but better late than never! I haven’t had a diary of sorts since I was about 13, so this should be fun!

I start off today with a picture of my cat, Spot, as I prepare to take her to the vet. She hates the vet. Hard to believe that she can be anything but the sweet furball pictured above, but the sounds she makes during a vet visit are like a scene straight out of “The Excorcist”.

Scare Up a Halloween Adventure in Historic Ellicott City

    Ellicott City Post Card

    Greetings from historic Ellicott City!

Why do spirits still linger here in
    Ellicott City?

    Some people believe it’s because
the town appears much the same
as it did when it was first settled

Welcome to hauntingly beautiful historic Ellicott City …

Centuries ago, the train stopped at what was formerly a hotel lobby on the second floor of the building shown above. People today report hearing screams from the third floor of this building.

    The spirits make themselves known.

Become one of the brave souls who dare to partake in “Ye Haunted History of Olde Ellicott City Ghost Tour” and listen first-hand to tales of the paranormal.

Tours take place every Friday and Saturday night from April through November at 8:30 p.m. What better time to go than during the Halloween season? Or how about Friday the 13th in November? The tour guides double dare you …

Tickets are available at the Visitor Information Center at 8267 Main Street in the historic district. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, and $8 for children (12 & under) and seniors (65+) and active military personel and their families. The tours are not recommended for children under 6 years old. Other days and times and private tours may be available. Please arrive 15 minutes early for tours.

For more information, visit Howard County Tourism or call call 1 (800) 288-8747.
